This is one of those things: too knackered to be much use to anyone, too wonderful to throw away. These are just the outside boards of what must once have been a fabulous book. I think it was probably an album or diary, a blank book rather than a printed one. The boards are red leather with intricate tooling in both gilt and blind. There is a really fancy lock in gilt metal with a scallop device. The interior too must have been quite something judging by the sky-blue watered silk endpapers... Goodness only knows what I shall do with them but, for now, they are just a part of the ever-growing pile of book-related artifacts in this office.
