Barnett Freedman Illustrations

This small pamphlet is something I picked up in the wonderful Sanctuary Bookshop in Lyme Regis the other day. It falls into my accidental collection of material (mainly dust jackets) illustrated by Barnett Freedman and this one appears to be quite an early offering from 1927. It is one of a series of single poem pamphlets that were issued by Faber and Gwyer and then by Faber and Faber in which they married poets and their poem with an artist who then provided a couple or more illustrations. Paul Nash, Eric Gill and Blair Hughes-Stanton all contributed artwork to the series and the authors were the likes of Sassoon, Eliot, Hardy and Newbolt. They are inexpensive but would make a wonderful collection...
