1950s Brochure #2: Cape Fruits

The second of our 1950s educational brochures, this time the artist is credited as the designer and he signs the front cover image, Clifford Bayly. This brochure was created by a public relations company for the South African Deciduous Fruit Board in London.

Cliff Bayly was head of Graphic Design at what was Maidstone College of Art (it's now called the University for the Creative Arts) in the 1980's. I met him there a few times when visiting the college. The place had a very high reputation for educating young illustrators and printmakers, with Cliff Bayly, Gerald Rose and Joan Williams, all of whom are of course long since retired from the teaching staff.
