In the lower photo, it looks like a cross between a bikini and a thong...and the guy on the right *still* looks pretty nice in it!
Are you sure these aren't stills from an early, low-budget version of The Talented Mr Ripley?

In the photo with the three -- you could call the guys' suits The Minimizer.
