Penguin Atlas

I know it doesn't feature here very often but I like a good dose of mid-20th century design as much as the next person... and in books, when twentieth century and design appear in the same sentence, you just know we are heading towards the Penguin shelf. This was at the bottom of a box the other day and I was very struck by the repetition of the same map on page after page after page, always in a cool black, white and pale blue, and each time with varied boundaries, Empires, trade-routes and the like. The maps are credited to John Woodcock and the book was first published in 1961.
